Who are we?
Rural Area Development Society (RADS) is a registered, non-profit and non-political voluntary organization established in 2005 and working for the holistic development of rural and tribal communities in Mizoram and other parts of India.
The Society is committed to strengthening the social, educational, cultural and economic foundations of underdeveloped rural populations through inclusive and sustainable development initiatives.
RADS promotes access to quality education, skill development, livelihood generation, preservation of indigenous culture, and community empowerment while encouraging harmony, cooperation and national integration.
Through activities such as running schools, providing hostel facilities for rural students, organizing vocational training, supporting traditional crafts, promoting agriculture and rural livelihoods, and undertaking welfare programmes for youth and women, the Society works to create self-reliant and progressive rural communities.
The organization also supports cultural preservation, environmental awareness, health and sanitation, indigenous knowledge systems, and infrastructure for social and spiritual well-being such as community centres, rest houses and care institutions wherever needed.
RADS envisions a society where rural people are educated, empowered, economically self-sufficient, and proud of their cultural heritage while actively contributing to nation-building.
